March

March was a calm month. I watched a lot of movies with my wife, and classic movies that I’ve never seen. Back to the Future, 3 Jurassic Parks, Akira, Spy X Family, Pirates of the Caribbean, Anastasia, Project Hail Mary, Super Mario Galaxy, etc. It was also our wedding anniversary, but celebrated small with a nice dinner out at our favorite restaurant. The real celebration is in May when we go to Japan for 2 weeks.

Projects

Notebooks

I’ve acquired a Bambu X1C to help with my notebook development. We’ve bought a domain, set up a store, and narrowing down on our initial product. I’ve got a few people signed up on a waitlist at Departure Supply Company. I built my own vibratory tumbler for parts finishing and making the final prototypes. I’m pretty proud of what I’ve made here. Next is the logo, branding, and marketing after a few more iterations.

CronQuery.com

CronQuery has 1 customer right now which covers 1/6th of the month operating costs. I’ve reworked the agent to run more efficiently and reduce operating costs, so I’ll probably bump up the paid tier to have more frequent queries. Also need to apply some basic polishing on the UI and emails, but I’m much more absorbed in Departure Supply/Notebooks right now.

Fun

Hiking

Since 2023 I’ve had some pretty bad knee pain when running or walking for a while. I owe this to sitting crosslegged and being sedentary for long periods of time. I think getting more active on my feet again, without a bike, would help this. On the 15th I hiked from Dry Canyon to the peak of Mt. Baldy. Big mistake. I figured that hiking would be a safe bet instead of running. Endurance wise, I was fine and made it to the top no problem. The issue was coming back down. Walking downhill applied much more pressure to my already tired knees and I was in incredible pain and ran out of water/food. With the help of a walking stick nearly as tall as me, and a nice slow pace I made it down after 3.5 hours of hiking. More short trips are in order. I’ve been trying to train my knees with just more reps on the stairs in my home in the meantime to recover.

Shooting

I slowed down on the competitions at the end of the month, but I’ve finally gotten an optic on my competition gun. Come April I hope to register for more matches again.

Small Things

  • Finally temp matched all the lightbulbs in the house.
  • Back to a second monitor for my desk (portrait too!)
  • Tracking calories again and losing weight has the ease that it initially had 1 year ago
  • Seasonal allergies are kicking my ass. I have no idea what’s different this year
  • Trad coding again, feeling more productive while doing it, and smarter
